Departing from our base in Bram, take advantage of being close to Carcassonne by visiting this amazing medieval citadel or cruise for two weeks to reach the Mediterranean at Agde.

Toulouse and Carcassonne boat hire in a few words…

Our base at Bram is in an ideal spot to hire a boat on the Canal du Midi, just
a few kilometres from Castelnaudary, famed for its cuisine, especially cassoulet (duck confit with beans). As you cruise towards the Mediterranean, you can easily get to Carcassonne. Magnificently restored by Viollet-le-Duc in the 19th century, Carcassonne is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With its 52 tall towers, Europe’s largest fortress proudly looms over the lower town. From its double circle of ramparts the view is breathtaking.

The
highlights of Bram

  • Proximity of famous vineyards of Corbières, Fitou and Minervois
  • Ideal spot to explore the Canal du Midi, probably the most renowned waterway in Europe

Caux et Sauzens

Caux et Sauzens is a wonderful hamlet that has preserved its traditional character. There's not much to do here, but the place is totally charming and makes a lovely place to stop on your cruise along the Canal du Midi.

Carcassonne

Carcassonne, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is Europe’s biggest medieval fortress. Its 52 towers stand proud above the lower town. All boating holidays on the Canal du Midi should include this city!

Marseillette

The commune is built on a rocky outcrop between the river Aude and the Canal du Midi. Some research allows us to affirm that the commune already lived 2000 years before J.C., under the name of Villacano.

Argens

Argens Minervois is a village beside the Canal du Midi. You'll find a Locaboat base here, along with several shops and a 14th century château.

Sometimes called France’s oldest town, Béziers is a popular stopover for canal boats and is packed with history and culture. Rugby, wine and bullfighting festivals are also important features of life in the town.

Agde

The town of Agde, with its historic buildings of black basalt, is known as “the black pearl of the Mediterranean”. It’s also the perfect place to stop for a while to enjoy the Mediterranean during your self-drive boat holiday.
